Buzzsaw-S HELP

This program requires Admin rights to install.  It does NOT require Admin rights to use.

When the Buzzsaw GUI is started, it is automatically minimized.  To open the GUI, click the Buzzsaw icon in the Windows taskbar.

The Buzzsaw GUI is only used to configure the Buzzsaw program.  Once the configuration is complete, the GUI can be closed.  Buzzsaw will run in the background (as a Windows Service).  No user action is required after the initial configuration.

The drives listed in the Watching Drives list will be monitored and automatically defragmented by Buzzsaw.  When the program is installed, all drives on the computer will be in the Watching Drives list.

To remove a drive from the Watching Drives list, select it and press the <--- button.  This will move it to the Available Drives list.  To move a drive from the Available drives list to the Wathing Drives list, select it in the available drives list and press the ---> button.

The Rescan button is used find the drives on the computer if the Buzzsaw has been stopped and restarted.  Also, this button is used if a removable drive is installed.

The Exclude from monitoring option is used to exclude any files or directories that are to be excluded from monitoring and defragmenting by Buzzsaw.  The full path of the file or directory must be entered into the Exclude from Monitoring dialog box.  Pressing the Exclude File/Dir button will move this file or directory into the exclude list.  The Remove Entry button will remove an excluded file or directory from the exclude list.

Fragments Saved is the number of fragments that were removed from the drive.

Largest Fragment Saved is the value of the largest number of fragments in a file that Buzzsaw was able to defragment.  If for example, the number is 20, then Buzzsaw defragmented a file that had 20 excess fragments.  What this means is that the file was located in 20 different non-contigious locations on the drive.  If there are 20 excess fragments, then the drive will have to do at least 19 seeks to retrieve the entire file.

To close the Buzzsaw, click the X in the upper right corner.
