DirMS-S HELP

This program requires Admin rights to install.  It does NOT require Admin rights to use.

To defragment a drive, select the drive from the dialog box.

To defragment the selected drive, press the Defragment button.

To defragment the drive with compaction, press the Compact button.

Compaction will minimize the space between files.  This is a slower process than the standard Defragment option.

The Get Drive button is used to find all drives on the computer.  Normally, this is automatically done when the program is started.  When a removable drive is installed, pressing the Get Drives button will allow DirMS to find the installed drive.  This option is also used when the Remote Machine option is selected.

The Remote Machine option allows the user to defragment a drive on another computer.  The remote computer must have the DirMS service installed on it.  To use this feature, select the Remote Machine option. The dialog box "Machine Name to Defragment" will appear.  Enter the Computer Name of the remote computer.  Press the Get Drives button to allow DirMS to find the drives on the remote computer.  Select a drive on the remote computer from the drive selection dialog box.  Press either the Defragment or Compact button to defragment the drive on the remote computer.
