Network Setup Help

DirMS-S and Buzzsaw-S require that networking be installed on the computer.  The computer is not required to be actively connected to the internet.  UDP Port 138 must be open (not blocked by a firewall).  A UDP port test procedure is available at: http://www.dirms.com/home/docs/udp_port_test_procedure.pdf

DirMS-CL does NOT require networking.

The following are known working configurations:

Windows XP with Service Pack 2:

Under >Control Panel >Network Connections >Local Area Connection >Properties, The following are installed:

Client for Microshft Networks
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
QoS Packet Scheduler
Microsoft TCP/IP version 6
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

Windows 2000 (service pack 4):

Under Local Area Connection properties, the following are installed:

Client for Microsoft Networks
Eacfilt Driver
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

MS Loopback Adapter:

An alternative to having networking installed is the Microsoft Loopback adapter software.  Installation of the Loopback adapter is described at this link:
